We are a group of students from Latin America at the University of Virginia, committed to creating awareness about the political, economic, and social issues in our countries, as well as raising funds for several organizations and causes in Latin America.
Each year we choose different social causes and organizations to donate funds to. These vary according to natural disasters or needs in Latin America. Last year we raised over $3,000 for the victims of the earthquakes in Mexico and those affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. We also organized our first annual ELA (Evaluating Latin America) Conference where we were able to raise awareness about several Latin American issues such as health, political landscape, sustainability, and urban development
Although this organization has members who are University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organization, which is responsible for and manages its own activities and affairs. The University does not direct, supervise or control the organization and is not responsible for the organization’s contracts, acts or omissions.
